NOW CLOSED FOR SUBMISSIONS

APPLICATIONS WILL OPEN EARLY 2017.

In 2016 Eden Arts seeked submissions for the Young Cumbrian Artist of the Year Award. Cumbrian artists aged 15-24 were invited to enter the competition, which is aimed at helping the development of their art practice and careers.

Shortlisted entries are featured on a dedicated website and online gallery, which is promoted nationally. A panel of arts professionals selected an overall winner and announced the ‘Young Cumbrian Artist of the Year’. The winning artist, Adam Story, received a cash prize awarded at a ceremony at Rheged, alongside the Cumbrian Artist of the Year award and People’s Choice award.

In addition to this short listed entries were invited to exhibit at the Vallum Gallery at the University of Cumbria Brampton Road Campus in partnership with the University of Cumbria's Institue of Arts which ran from 1 September to 6 October 2016.

To take part in the competition entrants needed to submit 3 photos of their work, along with a short artist statement. Any visual art medium is accepted, including painting, sculpture, textiles, illustration, photography, digital media and video.

With thanks to the University of Cumbria's Institute of Arts.
