C-Art Young Curators 2017

Are you interested in art? Are you thinking of applying to study Art at University? Or have you recently returned from university and would like to gain some experience in the art world?

C-Art and Eden Arts are inviting applications to form a group of Young Curators, aged between 16- 24, to select and curate the C-Art Cumbrian Artist of the Year Exhibition and awards at the Gallery at Rheged, running from 9th September – 5th November 2017.

The successful Young Curators will work alongside Ainslie Roddick curator at the Centre for Contemporary Art in Glasgow and Thomas Dukes, Curator at Open Eye Gallery in Liverpool and shortlist the winner for the Cumbrian Artist of the Year Award.

There will also be an opportunity to visit Glasgow and Liverpool to learn more about curating and what goes on behind the scenes in galleries.

The 2016 C-Art Cumbrian Artist of the Year Exhibition was visited by over 22,500 people.

Short listed applicants will be invited to an interview at Rheged, Penrith for a final selection process after the deadline. A confirmation email will be sent once your entry has been received.

This year the Young Curators scheme will offer participants the opportunity to take part in the Bronze Arts Award, a qualification equivalent to a QCF Level 1 standard in the areas of art form knowledge and understanding, creativity and communication. Support will be provided by Eden Arts to help the participants achieve this.
